Jose Aldo Calls Out Conor McGregor; Claims Champion Is A Quitter

The rumor in recent days is that Conor McGregor may be heading into an immediate rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200 in July, but meanwhile, Jose Aldo is still campaigning for a second fight with his bitter rival.

“You will come back (to the featherweight division) with your tail between your legs after what happened, after that embarrassment,” Aldo taunted McGregor during an interview with Esporte Espetacular. “You will come back. My hand almost caught you, but when it does for good, you will sleep.”

After watching McGregor’s quick tap-out to Diaz after being rocked on the feet, the former featherweight champion believes that the division’s new title holder lacks the heart to keep a hold of the belt.

“He’s a lion when he’s attacking, but a kitten when he’s getting beat up,” Aldo said. “Everybody saw in his eyes that he’s just a p—- that quits when he’s getting beat up. That’s what we saw.”

Immediately following his loss to Diaz, McGregor had indicated that he was looking to move back down to 145lbs to defend his title for the first time.

Aldo wasn’t his only potential match-up their though, with Frankie Edgar also in the running for a title shot too. Still, even although Aldo was KO’d just 13 seconds into his first encounter with ‘The Notorious’, he continues to believe that he should be the No.1 choice for McGregor’s next fight.

“It’s the right thing to do in my opinion because there was no fight, and everybody wants to see a fight. Everybody wants to see me beating him up, and that’s what I’m going to do. I will run through him, that’s a fact. I don’t see other scenario in my head besides going there and winning, and getting my belt back.”
