Following wild scenes at yesterday’s UFC 202 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas, both Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz gave their side of the story in separate interviews for the ‘UFC Tonight’ show.
“I saw people panicking up in the stands, and I thought maybe it’s a case of dehydration,” McGregor joked when asked for his version of the bottle throwing between the two parties at the presser. “I don’t know what was going on, I was simply launching up some hydration for people. We’re around the desert here, it’s intense.”
McGregor then gave a more honest assessment of the incident, claiming that he was simply acting in self defense.
“In reality, they were walking out, talking shit, throwing bottles. If you want to fight, let’s fight,” he said. “It was nothing. I don’t know what happened, I just defended myself and that’s it.”
Diaz had less to say on the matter during his interview, but indicated that the reason that he walked out of the press conference in the first place was due to the fact that McGregor had arrived late.
“Like I said, that guy [McGregor] walks in like he was the show,” Diaz said. “But I thought the show was over, so I left the show.”
