Conor McGregor Announces Baby On Way; Wants UFC Equity Stake

Conor McGregor Post Fight

Conor McGregor had been teasing a big announcement following his fight with Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 last night, but after a thrilling TKO victory to win the lightweight title he stopped short of dropping any major revelations about his fighting future.

However, at the post-fight press conference, ‘The Notorious’ did have some big news, with the first announcement being what many had already guessed – that his long-time girlfriend Dee Devlin is pregnant with their first child.

“I’m going to be a daddy early next year,” McGregor confirmed at the presser. “I’m crapping my jocks, I’m not even going to lie!

“I don’t even know what way to take it, it’s going to mess with my head. I don’t want to be bringing a child into anything like this.

“I don’t want no celebrity-type sh*te, I hate all that. I don’t want my family to be like that. So that’s kind of a little thing in the back of my head.

“So I’m going to have this baby, take a little bit of time off and see what way I feel after that.”

McGregor initially told the assembled media that the baby was due in March, and he seemed genuinely surprised when he was informed it was actually May.

It remains to be seen if that impacts when he will fight again, but whatever happens, McGregor’s other major statement on the night was that he now wants a stake in the company before he sets foot in the Octagon again.

“They have got to come talk to me now,” McGregor said. “No one has talked to me since the sale happened. As a businessman, no one has approached (me yet), but I’ve earned something.

“Who owns the company now? There’s people who have shares in the company, celebrities — Conan O’Brien owns the UFC nowadays. So where’s my share? Where’s my equity?

“If I’m the one that’s bringing this, they’ve got to come talk to me now. That’s all I know. I’ve got both belts, a chunk of money, and a little family on the way,” he said. “If you want me to stick around, if you want me to keep doing what I’m doing, let’s talk. But I want ownership now. I want equal share. I want what I deserve.”
