In the main event of the evening, Robert Whittaker survived an early storm from Derek Brunson before finishing him off late in the opening round.
Brunson had started aggresively and recklessly, wading in with huge winging punches and repeated takedown attempts.
Mid-way through the round that constant pressure began to pay off as Brunson had Whittaker backed up against the cage trying to survive as he whaled away with big shots.
Brunson was expending a great deal of energy though and was leaving his chin wide open as he did so, which gave Whittaker a way back into the fight as he was eventually able to land a few hard shots that rocked his opponent.
Suddenly the momentum of the fight had shifted completely and it was Whittaker who was on offense, and a left hook followed by a right head kick that felled Brunson, with ground and pound following for the TKO finish with 4.07mins on the clock.
The co-main event of the evening saw Andrew Holbrook edge out young prospect Jake Matthews, with his superior grappling in the opening 10 minutes of the fight in particular being enough to earn a split decision victory on the scorecards (29-28 x2, 28-29).
