The Korean Zombie Facing Long Recovery After Serious Knee Injury

New details regarding ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung’s knee injury suggest that he is now facing a long time on the sidelines.

Jung had been scheduled to fight Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214 in July, but a few days ago it emerged that he’d been forced out of action due to suffering a knee injury in training and would likely be out for six months.

However, in an injury update yesterday, ‘The Korean Zombie’ revealed that the injury is more serious than was first thought, with both his ACL and MCL being completely ruptured.

As such it’s quite possible that the 30-year-old will be out for at least a year, which comes as a major blow, particularly as he’d only just returned to action with a quick TKO win over Dennis Bermudez after spending a couple of years out of the Octagon conducting his compulsary military service in South Korea.

However, despite this latest setback, Jung is staying positive about his situation.

“I am a person who can do this kind of thing at any time,” Jung wrote on Instagram. “I have hurt countless colleagues. So I do not blame the friend who hurt me. I know that I am not good enough. I learn a lot. And again, I realized that there are a lot of people waiting for my game. Sorry. I will get stronger and come back.”
