Following last night’s TUF 25 Finale in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was obviously the crazy back-and-forth main event battle between Justin Gaethje and Michael Johnson.
In the early stages of the fight it was Johnson who was able to rock the debuting Gaethje several times, but no matter how hard he hit him, the unbeaten former WSOF lightweight champion just wouldn’t quit.
Instead, in the second round it was Gaethje’s turn to come on strong and started landing everything but the kitchen sink on Johnson and eventually put him away with a series of knees to the head against the cage for a memorable TKO victory that will make him an instant fan favorite.
With that in mind it’s hardly susprising that Gaethje also scooped up a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award too, meaning that in total he scooped up $100,000 in bonus money on the night.
Meanwhile, the other ‘Performance Of The Night’ award was handed to the winner of the event’s opening bout of the evening, Tecia Torres, who was able to sink in a rear-naked choke finish against Juliana Lima early in the second round of the fight.
