The UFC are adding a fresh voice into the broadcast booth for tomorrow night’s UFC Fight Night 116, with lightweight fighter Paul Felder set to join Jon Anik and Dominick Cruz on the call.
The 33-year-old Felder is better known for his fights in the Octagon, having been competing in the UFC for the past three years, racking up a 6-3 record to date, including recent back-to-back first round victories over Alessandro Ricci and Stevie Ray.
However, Felder has also previously provided color commentary during Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender’s series on Fight Pass, and that went well enough that the UFC are now giving him an opportunity to show what he can do on a bigger stage.
“I want to play my role,” Felder told MMAJunkie. “I’m the new guy on the block. I definitely don’t want go get in there my first time and step on Dominick’s shoes or Jon’s shoes and get in their way. These guys are veterans, and they’re pros, so when they need my analysis or need my opinion, they’ll get it.”
Felder will be heard on the first four fights of the main card on Saturday night, but will then step back to allow Anik and Cruz call the main and co-main event of the evening.
