Volkan Oezdemir: New Details Emerge Regarding Bar Brawl Incident

New details have emerged about the alteraction outside a bar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that led to Volkan Oezdemir being charged with aggravated battery with serious bodily injury.

The official police report into the matter sheds new light on the matter, revealing that Oezdemir is alleged to have knocked another man unconscious.

THe police filing says the altercation took place on August 12th at the ‘Capone’s bar in Fort Lauderdale, with the alleged victim, Kevin Cohen claiming that he had stepped outside the establishment to investiage claims that one of his friends had just been knocked out following a verbal dispute with another man.

Cohen alleges that after he enquired who had just knocked out his friend he was suddenly hit in the face and rendered unconscious himself for no less than 14 minutes.

Afterwards, Cohen was transported to hospital suffering from concussion symptoms and received multiple staples for lacerations.

Cohen also alleges that it was after he awoke from being hit that he learned from witnesses at the scene that the man who had struck him was UFC middleweight fighter Volkan Oezdemir.

Police are also believed to have looked into claims that Oezdemir had also hit Cohen’s friend Sergio Sandoval, but at the time of filing the report officials had been unable to reach the alleged victim to pursue that matter.

Oezdemir’s attorney Bruce Zimet has already responded to these allegations at a hearing, claiming that the rising UFC star was not the aggressor in the altercation and as such was justified in his actionst to defend himself.

As yet the UFC have opted not to punish Oezdemir for his conduct, but have indicated that they are investigating the matter.
