Invicta FC 26 took place last night and you can check out all the results below.
In the main event of the evening, Jennifer Maia successfully defended her flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Agnieszka Niedzwiedz.
It’s been over a year since Maia’s last fight and it showed in the early stages of the fight as Niedzwidz was able to put her in real trouble with right hands in both the first and early in the second round.
Maia gradually worked her way into the fight after that though and began to take control as Niedzwiedz slowed down, operating effectively from the clinch to emerge with a decision victory (49-46 x3).
Invicta FC’s big new signing Mackenzie Dern made her debut in the co-main event and rather than using her high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills, she showed a willingness to demonstrate her developing striking game in the early rounds against Kaline Medeiros.
There’s no doubt Dern’s stand-up is still a work in progress, but it was enough to trouble Medeiros on several occasions, including staggering her in the first five minutes.
However, it was when Dern went for a takedown late in the third round that she really came into her own, achieving full mount, landing punches and then locking up an armbar submission with just 15 seconds to go.
