GSP Vs Conor McGregor Not Happening Says Dana White

Georges St-Pierre’s long-time coach Firas Zahabi has been talking up the possibility of a superfight between the Canadian star and Conor McGregor recently, but UFC president Dana White has now moved in to pour cold water on the idea.

“He ain’t fighting Conor McGregor,” White told ESPN. “If he wants to come back, [UFC welterweight champion] Tyron Woodley or [middleweight champion] Robert Whittaker is waiting for him. They’re both waiting, if Georges wants to come back.”

That being said, after GSP opted to vacate the middleweight title that he’d just won last month against Michael Bisping, Dana White now believes that its entirely possible that ‘Rush’ won’t be returning at all in 2018.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t think the guy wants to fight,” White mused. “I think he jumped in, grabbed some cash and went back to Canada.”

In all fairness though, White had made the same claim that St-Pierre didn’t want to fight several times in the past, but was proved wrong this year when he did indeed make a comeback after a four-year absence from the Octagon.

However, the main question mark over the 36-year-old’s future in the sport now may revolve around how he responds to medication for his recently diagnosed medical condition, ulceterative colitis, with the fighter himself having indicated before Christmas that his treatment so far has had a positive effect.
