A featherweight fight between Artem Lobov and Alex Caceres has been booked for UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York on April 7th.
Best known as one of Conor McGregor’s most prominent training partners, the 31-year-old ‘Russian Hammer’ will be looking to bounce back from a two-fight losing slump against Cub Swanson and Andre Fili during his 2017 campaign.
This is nothing new for Lobov. After all, he also lost his first two UFC fights after making his way to the promotion via TUF Season 22, but then notched up a couple of victories to keep his place on the roster.
This time around he’ll be facing another fighter struggling to find consistency in the Octagon- 29-year-old Alex Caceres.
‘Bruce Leroy’ as he’s also known has only mustered one win from his last four fights, so this will be considered a must-win for him as well.
Lobov vs. Caceres will likely serve on the undercard of the UFC 223 event, which will lead with two title encounters as interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson goes up against Khabib Nurmagomedov, while newly crowned women’s strawweight titleholder Rose Namajunas heads straight into an immediate rematch with the fighters she replaced at the top of the 115lb ladder, Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
