A match-up of top bantamweight talents Marlon Moraes and Jimmie Rivera is reportedly on the UFC’s radar to headline the UFC Fight Night 131 event on June 1st in Utica, New York.
The two fighters have been clamoring to fight each other for months now, and almost put pen to paper on a short notice clash at UFC 219 back in December, though Moraes backed out at the last minute.
Now they will have a chance to battle it out in the Octagon, and it comes at a time when both are making their mark in the UFC, with the former long-time World Series Of Fighting champion Moraes having defeated John Dodson by decision and then delivered one of the most vicious KO’s of the year against Aljamain Sterling, all within the space of a month.
Meanwhile, you have to go back 20 fights to find the last time Rivera has tasted defeat.
‘El Terror’s’ long unbeaten stretch includes five victories during his time in the UFC so far, clocking up wins over the likes of Urijah Faber, Iuri Alcantara and most recently Thomas Almeida along the way.
That’s left Rivera ranked at No.4 in the 135lb weight class, just one place above Moraes at No.5.
While the fight is not officially signed yet, Moraes Vs Rivera is expected to join a UFC Fight Night 131 card that so far has no other bouts confirmed at this time.
