It seems that former middleweight champion Michael Bisping is still eyeing one last fight in the UFC and he’s targeted the upcoming UFC Fight Night 130 event in Liverpool on May 27th as the perfect landing spot for his swang song.
“UFC, I’m available,” Bisping said on the latest episode of his ‘Believe You Me’ podcast. “If you want me on that card, you got my number. … That’s a nice retirement fight. Liverpool. Northwest of England. That’s where I’m from.”
Bisping had originally been contemplating the possibility of fighting at UFC Fight Night 127 in London recently, but eventually decided against it, leaving some uncertainty as to whether he might just hang up his gloves.
However, despite admitting that his family and friends have been pressuring him to call time on his career, it seems he still has the itch to fight one more time in front of his hometown fans.
“I’m interested in fighting on that card. We’ll see. We’ll see what the UFC comes up with. But yeah, I’m definitely interested. For sure. That would be my last fight and then I can bugger off.”
Bisping has dismissed talk that he might fight the likes of Luke Rockhold or Vitor Belfort, but it seems that he’s already having discussions with the UFC about possible opponents.
“I spoke to the UFC already, I’m playing a little game here. I said to the UFC, ‘Throw some names my way.’ We’ll see. So we’ll see what they come back with.”
The only spanner in the works here is that Stephen Thompson Vs Darren Till has now been announced as the main event for UFC Fight Night 130, so if Bisping does land on that card then he’ll have to make do with a lower spot on the line-up, which is a rarity for a fighter who was generally first on the list when it came to headliners for UK cards throughout his UFC career.
