UFC superstar Conor McGregor turned himself in to a New York City police station late last night and subsequently was charged with multiple offenses in relation to an attack on a bus containing several fighters following a UFC 223 media day at the Barclays Center.
The 29-year-old McGregor was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assult and one count of felony criminal mischief as a result of his actions during chaotic scenes in the arena’s parking bay that were videod by multiple witnesses.
One of McGregor’s assault charges stems from injuries to fellow fighter Michael Chiesa’s face after he was showered with glass when ‘The Notorious’ allegedly threw a steel dolly through the bus window where he was sitting.
Another individual was allegedly punched several times by McGregor during the melee, leading to the second assault charge.
Meanwhile, the criminal mischief charge was handed down in relation to what’s believed to be $8,000 worth of damage to the bus as a result of the attack.
McGregor and over a dozen of his entourage are reported to have been specifically targeting his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov during the incident in retaliation for an incident a couple of days earlier when the Russian star verbally confronted one of McGregor’s teammates Artem Lobov in a hotel lobby.
