Bantamweight fighter John Dodson has signed a new four-fight deal with the UFC, putting an end to speculation regarding his future.
Dodson’s previous deal had come to an end back in March after a split decision win over Pedro Munhoz.
That continued a trend of alternating between wins and losses for the 33-year-old since returning to the 135lb ranks in 2016 after an unsuccessful attempt to claim the flyweight title from Demetrious Johnson.
Along the way he’s also picked up wins over Manny Gamburyan and Eddie Wineland, while his two losses came by split decision against John Lineker and Marlon Moraes – all of which leaves him ranked No.7 in the division.
Following his most recent win ‘The Magician’ had put his heart on his sleeve by admitting that he didn’t want to leave the UFC, and though it’s taken a while to come to terms, his wish has been granted.
The former TUF Season 14 winner now hopes to return to action in August as he looks to build on his overall 9-4 UFC record.
