One of the most in-demand sporting stars on the planet, Conor McGregor is going to remain with the UFC for the foreseeable future after signing a new six-fight deal with the promotion.
The deal was originally reported as been for eight-fights in many media outlets, but it’s since emerged that this is not the case and it’s only for six more fights.
One interesting aspect of his new deal is that includes McGregor’s new whiskey brand ‘Proper Twelve’ being branded on the UFC Octagon canvas for ever fight that the star is a part of as well as other fight week promotion.
McGregor’s previous deal with the UFC saw him rake in a guaranteed $3 million fight purse for his second fight with Nate Diaz, in addition to a large cut of the pay-per-view profits for what proved to be the biggest event in UFC history (1.6 million PPV buys).
However, while the terms of his new deal haven’t been disclosed yet, it’s almost certain that his new deal will blow that one out of the water, with a larger PPV cut likely to be the most desirable aspect of the contract.
If so, that could earn McGregor another fortune on October 6th at UFC 229, with Dana White stating earlier this week that it’s trending at 2.5 million buys – by far and away the biggest ever for the promotion.
