Conor McGregor’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach Dillon Danis was the intended target when Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped out of the Octagon after his victory on Saturday night, and since then there’s been claims that he shouted a religious insult at the lightweight champion.
TMZ Sports reported that a fan at Octagon-side had claimed that Danis was mouthing off at Nurmagomedov during the fight, during which he called him, “a f**king Muslim rat,” but the Bellator fighter has now adamantly denied that happened.
“I have never and would never denigrate anyone’s religion,” Danis wrote on Instagram. “I look forward to the results of the Nevada State Athletic Commission investigation which will reject this bull(expletive) claim and put the blame where it belongs.”
However, TMZ Sports has claimed that they spoke to “multiple groups of people” who heard Danis shouting insults at McGregor’s rival.
Meanwhile, another UFC star Brian Ortega has revealed that he saw Danis at a club after the event and says the BJJ ace told him that he may be suffering from a concussion as a result of the wild post-fight brawl that occurred outside of the cage.
“One of his eyes were swollen and he was just telling me, ‘I think they gave me a concussion or whatever.’ So he got down too, man,” Ortega told TMZ Sports. “After that, he was going to walk out by himself and I told my boy, ‘make sure this guy [Danis] gets out of here alright,’ because there seemed to be some Russians in the club… the last thing you want is this guy getting jumped going out.”
