Bellator 213 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane successfully defended her flyweight title for the second time by submitting Valerie Letourneau by triangle choke midway through the third round.
Truth be told the fight was rather eventful for the first two rounds, but then Macfarlane managed to secure a takedown and quickly took Letourneau’s back, then trapped an arm with her leg and threatened for an armbar before slickly transitioning to a triangle choke and landing elbow strikes for good measure to force her opponent to tap out.
In the co-main event, Lyoto Machida secured a win in his Bellator debut with a split decision victory over Rafael Carvalho.
The first two rounds were closely contested on the feet, and though Machida was generally the more elusive he did have his nose bloodied in the opening five minutes. Realizing the fight was closed ‘The Dragon’ then switched tactics in the final round and went for a takedown, where he was able to outgrapple his opponent and win the round to help ensure he emerged with a victory.
Earlier in the evening, Neiman Gracie booked his place in the welterweight grand-prix semi-finals with a fourth round submission victory over Ed Ruth, while Liam McGeary claimed a KO victory over Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal with a big right hand early in the third round.
