The UFC have just revealed the huge economic impact that UFC 229 had in Las Vegas last year.
Released on UFC.com, the announcement shows that a staggering $86.4 million was generated as a result of the event, headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
That included $17.2 million in total salaries and wages, 414 jobs supported in Southern Nevada and $3.7 million paid in taxes.
The study also revealed that 40$ of UFC 229’s visitors had travelled from international locations, that 50% of attendees were between the ages of 21-34 and 50% of them had an annual income of over $100,000.
On top of that, one in five attendees stayed in Las Vegas for five nights or more and nearly two in five spent more than $2,000 on non-gaming activities during their time in the city.
These new findings come after the event was already declared to have been the most successful pay-per-view in UFC history by a large margin, with 2.4 million people purchasing the event, totally eclipsing the previous high water mark of 1.65 million for McGregor’s rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
UFC president Dana White had also revealed post-fight that the event had smashed the UFC’s records for social media impressions and global viewership as well thanks to the intense interest in the headlining fight.
