UFC heavyweight Walt Harris has been suspended by USADA for four months after he was found to have unknowingly taken a contaminated supplement.
Harris tested positive for the banned substance LGD-4033 during an in-competition urine test on December 29th prior to UFC 232, where he claimed a split decision victory over Andrei Arlovski.
After the positive test Harris was able to provide USADA officials with information about a dietary supplement he had been using, and after lab testing it was discovered that it included the banned substance even though it was not mentioned in the ingredients.
As a result, the 35-year-old Harris has seen what was likely to be a two-year suspension cut down to just four months in addition to a $4,000 fine, which means that he will be eligible to compete again by the end of the month.
However, his win over Arlovski has now been amended to a no-contest due to the positive drug test.
The win over Arlovski had put Harris on a two-fight winning streak and left him with four wins from his last six fights, but the no-contest ruling takes some of the shine off of what had been the biggest win of his career to date.
