Tito Ortiz’s victory over Alberto El Patron at Combate Americas 51 back in December of last year has been overturned to a no-contest ruling by the Texas commission under mysterious circumstances.
At this stage it’s not clear exactly why Ortiz’s first round rear-naked choke submission victory won’t stand, with the commission only saying that, “The results of the fight were changed pending further investigation.”
However, the 45-year-old Ortiz, who had been coming off back-to-back wins over Chael Sonnen and Chuck Liddell, is adamant that he’s doing nothing wrong.
“This is a BS claim and will get overturned,” Ortiz wrote on Instagram. “I promise you all. Sad way to get attention at my expense. #guiltyuntilproveninnocent.”
He followed that up with another Instagram post later in the day that ended on a more positive note.
“So today was a really disparaging day due to trumped up bs by the Texas Athletic Commission and my last fight. However I came home to an unexpected surprise from @danawhite and @ufc that made my day!! My official Hall of Fame Jacket along with a letter from Dana. I am very thankful for this and for the many amazing memories I made with UFC!! Thank you! #mma #UFC #HOF.”
