Conor McGregor has talked a lot about how to combat the coronavirus situation in his native Ireland and now he’s putting his money where his mouth is.
The UFC superstar has revealed that he’s donating 1 million euros to pay for protective equipment that will be sent to hospitals in Ireland for the doctor’s and nurses that are bravely battling to save people’s lives on the frontlines.
“Today, I am purchasing myself, €1 million euro worth of personal protective equipment to be deployed to all of the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region,” McGregor texted to Donohoe. “Our most affected region, to this date.
“Where would we be without these brave men and women, I do not know. May God bless over them and keep them safe.”
McGregor had previously urged the people of Ireland and beyond to stay at home and self-isolate to help fight the spread of the disease and had also pleaded with politicians to initiate a full lockdown in the region.
That prompted a message to McGregor directly from the Irish Minister For Finance, Paschal Donohoe earlier this week, which ultimately led to the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champions decision to generously donate his own money to the cause.
