Belal Muhammad is the latest UFC fighter to test positive for Covid-19 and that has led to him being pulled from this weekend’s UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal event in Las Vegas.
Muhammad had been scheduled to fight Dhiego Lima at the event, but the word now is that the fight may be revisted on one of the UFC’s January shows next year.
“Woke up yesterday feeling like crap got tested and i was positive for covid sucks but I’ll be back,” Muhammad stated on Twitter.
Muhammad had been heading into Saturday night’s fight with confidence, having won his last three fights in a row, and only one loss in his last Octagon outings.
He will no doubt be disappointed that he’s only managed one fight in 2020 though, registering a unanimous decision victory over lyman Good back in June.
Lima can also lay claim to having gone unbeaten in his last three fights, though unlike Muhammad he had actually lost a trio of bouts prior to that.
Despite this call-off, Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 17 card remains a strong line-up that includes a main event between Stephen Thompson and Geoff Neal, a co-main event that stars Jose Aldo vs. Marlon Vera, while the likes of Anthony Pettis vs. Alex Morono and Marlon Mores vs. Rob Font also feature on the main card.
