Frank Camacho Out Of UFC 263 After Being Involved In Multi-Vehicle Crash

Frank Camacho is out of his UFC 263 fight with Matt Frevola this weekend after being injured during a multi-vehicle crash in California.

“Thank you very much to everyone who reached out to my team and I, we very much appreciate your support and well wishes,” Camacho stated on Instagram. “Unfortunately I was in a serious multi-vehicle collision this morning. I’m a little beat up from the accident, and I’m absolutely heartbroken to have to withdraw from my fight Saturday at UFC 263.

“But I’m very grateful to walk away from the accident in one piece, and I know this is just a detour in my fighting career. I’d like to extend my apologies for the inconvenience this accident has brought upon my opponent and the UFC, and my wife Sarah and I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their concern and support at this time.”

Four cars were believed to have been involved in the accident and afterwards Camacho was taken to hospital after complaining of head, neck and shoulder pain.

Camacho then underwent a CT scan and x-ray, which showed inflammation of ligaments in his neck, while a subsequent MRI revealed that he had a herniated disc.

As such, Camacho will be out of action for a while and so he can’t compete on Saturday night and LFA’s Terrance Mckinney has now stepped up to replace him on short notice against Frevola.

It’s a big blow for Camacho, who was already in a tough spot in the UFC, having lost his last two fights in a row, leaving him with just a 2-5 record in the promotion to date.

As for his replacement, Mckinney previously fought on the Contender Series back in 2019, losing by KO, but in more recent times has racked up three finishes via strikes in a row in a combined time of less than two minutes to re-capture the UFC’s attention.

Now he’ll make his debut against Frevola, who is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Arman Tsarukyan in January, taking his UFC record to 2-2-1.
