A bantamweight fight between Jose Aldo and Rob Font has been announced as the headliner for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 199 event on December 4th in Las Vegas.
The fight comes at a time when Aldo appears to have found his stride in the 135lb division, having now won two fights in a row against Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz in the past year.
That will no doubt have come as a relief for the 35-year-old former featherweight champion as his initial drop down to the division after a loss to Alexander Volkanovski had been greeted by back-to-back defeats against Marlon Moraes via split-decision and then Petr Yan in an interim title fight.
Currently ranked No.5 in the division, Aldo will now go up against Font who is one place above him after having compiled a four-fight unbeaten stretch over the past few years.
Along the way the 34-year-old has defeated Sergio Pettis and Ricky Simon by unanimous decision, then TKO’d Marlon Moraes and most recently earned a win on the scorecards against former champion Cody Garbrandt.
Aldo vs. Font will front a UFC Fight Night 199 card that will also feature the likes of Carla Esparza vs. Yan Xiaonan and Jack Hermansson vs. Edmen Shahbayzan.
