Women’s MMA veteran Roxanne Modafferi is set to hang up her gloves soon, but not until she has one last fight in the UFC against Casey O’Neill at UFC 271 on February 12th.
By that stage the 39-year-old Modafferi will have been fighting professionally for almost 19 years, having initially began competing in Japan in the early 2000’s.
With 45 fights under her belt, Modafferi is one of female MMA’s most experienced campaigners and enjoyed stints in respected promotions like Strikeforce, Invicta FC and Cage Warriors before finally making her way to the UFC via two separate appearances on the Ultimate Fighter reality show.
In total Modafferi has had 11 bouts in the Octagon, and while she’s only 4-7 during that time, she’s picked up some impressive wins along the way, defeating the likes of Andrea ‘KGB’ Lee, Maycee Barber, Antonina Shevchenko and Barb Honchak.
The 24-year-old O’Neill won’t want her name added to that list though as she’s currently an undefeated up-and-comer who has compiled an 8-0 career record to date, including three wins in a row since joining the UFC back in February.
Modafferi vs. O’Neill joins a UFC 271 card that is still in it’s formative stages and so does not have a main event installed as yet, but is rumored to be the likely landing spot for a middleweight title rematch between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.
