Maycee Barber has been forced out of her fight with Erin Blanchfield at the end-of-year UFC 269 event in Las Vegas on December 11th for undisclosed reasons.
As a result, the UFC have now drafted in Miranda Maverick in to replace Barber against Blanchfield on roughly a month’s notice.
Maverick’s last fight was in fact against the aforementioned Barber, losing out to her by split decision back in July.
However, the 24-year-old Maverick had won her first two UFC fights in a row prior to that against Liliana Jojua and Gillian Robertson, taking her career record to 9-3.
As for the 22-year-old Blanchfield, she had picked up a victory over Sarah Alpar in her UFC debut a couple of months ago and is currently 7-1 in her career overall after spending much of her time competing in the Invicta FC, as did Maverick.
Maverick vs. Blanchfield takes place at a UFC 269 event that will be fronted by two title fights as lightweight champ Charles Oliveira goes up against Dustin Poirier, while bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes battles Julianna Pena in the co-main event, not to mention Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal.
