Bellator 273 Results

Bellator 273 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event of the evening, Ryan Bader successfully defended his heavyweight belt against interim-titleholder Valentin Moldasky with a win on the scorecards.

Bader had last been seen losing out to Cory Anderson in the semi-finals of the 205lb grand-prix back in October, but he was able to get back on track here after stinging Moldasky with an early right hand.

He wasn’t able to secure a finish from that, and the action from their on in proved to be closely contested as the two often battled for supremacy in the clinch and wrestling departments, with Bader doing just enough to edge out the decision victory (48-47 x3).

Cheick Kongo was brought into the cage post-fight as it was revealed he would be next to challenge Bader for the title.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event Benson Henderson secured a narrow split decision win (29-28 x2, 28-29) over Islam Mamedov, ending his opponent’s 20-fight unbeaten run.

There were tense moments for both fighters during the bout as they had to fight off submission attempts, with Henderson applying guillotine and rear-naked chokes, while Mamedov threatened with rear-naked chokes, but in the end it was Henderson who did enough to get the nod from two of the judges and then hinted afterwards that he may now be contemplating retirement.

Earlier Henry Corrales picked up a technical decision win over Aiden Lee after he accidentally eyepoked his opponent, which ultimately led to him being unable to continue. Due to this occurring in the final round the result was then decided by the scorecards, with Corrales being ahead at that stage to claim the victory.
