Jon Jones has revealed that his long time fiancee and mother of his three children, Jessie Moses has left him after a troubled spell in their relationship a few months ago that had led to him being charged with domestic violence.
“My fiance left me two months ago, today she finally realized that she won’t be coming back,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “If you are a Jon Jones hater, have a toast, I feel like sh*t.”
Moses was Jones childhood sweetheart and had been in a relationship with him since before he even joined the UFC.
That meant she had a front row seat to his meteoric rise to stardom as he fought his way to the UFC light-heavyweight title and went on to become one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters the sport has ever seen.
However, she also had to endure many low-points along the way too, including one of his early run-ins with the law back in 2012 when he crashed his Bentley one night in New York with two female passengers, neither of whom was his girlfriend, and was subsequently charged with driving while under the influence.
That was an early warning sign, but far more was to come in the years that followed, including the now infamous time he fled the scene of an accident he caused and was later arrested after crashing into a pregnant woman’s car following a night of partying, through to being stripped off his title for a second time after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
The breaking point though appeared to be last September when, just hours after being inducted into the UFC’s Hall-Of-Fame, Jones returned to the hotel room where his fiancee and children were sleeping in order to get $10,000 so he could go back out to a strip club.
An altercation broke out in the room and security called police after Moses was spotted with blood coming from her nose and mouth, which he later confirmed had been due to Jones becoming “a little physical.”
Jones was arrested later that night and just yesterday bodycam footage of the arrest confirmed previous reports that the former light-heavyweight champion had been intoxicated, abusive to the police officers who were arresting him and at one point headbutted a patrol car.
It’s not clear if seeing that footage was the final straw for Moses to tell Jones that they wouldn’t be getting back together, but whatever the reason, many are now wondering how the clearly troubled star will handle the split given his volatile behavior in the past as he continues to prepare for his first fight at heavyweight in the UFC, which it was believed may take place later this year.
