A fight between UFC veteran Clay Guida and Scott Holtzman has been announced for UFC Fight Night 216 on December 3rd.
The bout marks Guida’s 60th career outing as the 40-year-old looks to bounce back from a first round kneebar submission loss to Claudio Puelles last time out. Before that Guida had picked up a submission win of his own against Leonardo Santos back in December.
Guida is no stranger to alternating between wins and losses in recent times, and in fact he’s actually 5-5 in his last 10 fights, with his other victories during that period coming against the likes of Michael Johnson, BJ Penn, Joe Lauzon and Erik Koch.
As for Holtzman, while he’s nowhere close to the same number of bouts as Guida, he is getting up in years too at 38, and he’ll no doubt be concerned about the fact that he’s lost his last two fights in a row via knockout against Beneil Dariush and Mateusz Gamrot.
Of course it will be some consolation that they are two of the most in-form fighters in the lightweight ranks at the moment, and he had won five of his previous six fights before that, picking up victories over fighters like Jim Miller, Dong Hyun Ma and Alan Patrick along the way.
Guida vs. Holtzman joins a UFC Fight Night 216 card that does not yet have a confirmed headliner, but will also include bouts like Derek Brunson vs. Jack Hermansson and Eryk Anders vs. Kyle Daukaus.
