On yesterday’s edition of ‘UFC Tonight’ 20 fighters who are set to make the move over from the now defunct Strikeforce promotion to the UFC were revealed.
Quite a few of them, like Gilbert Melendez and Daniel Cormier we already knew about due to fights with them being announced for ‘UFC On FOX 7’ earlier in the week, and as expected a lot of the other big name stars from the promotion are also coming aboard.
One of the most interesting new recruits is lightweight fighter Kurt Holobaugh who earned his spot despite losing by decision to Pat Healy in Strikeforce’s last ever show at the weekend.
Holobaugh wasn’t even a Strikeforce fighter until being called in as a late replacement for the event, but he impressed with his tenacity and technique against a far more experienced veteran.
The 26 year-old certainly looks to have potential and is expected to move down to the UFC’s featherweight division for his first fight.
You can look through the full list of new recruits announced during last night’s show below, but bear in mind this is not an exhaustive list so it is still possible that other Strikeforce fighters could still make the transition in the coming weeks.
