Alan Belcher Has Spinal Injury – Relieved He Isn’t Fighting Vitor Belfort Anymore

When the news first broke that Vitor Belfort would now be fighting Jon Jones at UFC 152 many observers had sympathy for his originally scheduled opponent Alan Belcher who’s now left without a fight.

They shouldn’t have been though as it turns out Belcher is counting his lucky stars that he no longer has to compete at the UFC 153 event in Rio as he’s been nursing a serious injury.

“Everyone’s asking if I am mad at @ufc @jonnybones @vitorbelfort answer is no. this is a blessing in disguise. I have a spinal fracture,” Belcher told his fans on Twitter.

That doesn’t sound too good, but thankfully it appears that ‘The Talent’ won’t be out for too long and is hoping he can still land a high profile bout upon his return.

“With that being said and with much respect I’d like @chrisweidmanufc or another top 5 on my return in November. Thx for all the support.”

Currently on a four-fight winning streak, Belcher is certainly due a big fight in the division next and so hopefully he does get the chance to compete again before the end of the year.
