Alex Pereira retained his light-heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 303 with a head kick TKO finish of Jiri Prochazka at the start of the 2nd round after flooring his opponent with his final punch of the first round too.
Round One:
The main event 205lb title rematch is underway in las Vegas!
Calf kick for Pereira to start. He lands another calf kick but Prochazka does throw a punch at the same time.
Calf kick from Prochazka now. Thudding one lands for Pereira. Step-in jab from Prochazka. Left hook lands for Pereira.
solid jab from Pereira. Head kick attempt from Prochazka is tenatitive and doesn’t land. Prochazka steps in again with a punch but eats a counter and then a low kick from the champ.
Another jab from Pereira. And again behind a low kick. Now a solid body kick for him.
Left hook for Pereira. Prochazka able to clinch up now and gets Pereira up against the cage. Pereira lands a punch and a knee to the body while defending the takedown here.
Prochazka tries for a trip as Pereira lands a few more light punches inside. A minute to go in the round. Knees exchanged. Pereira spins away and attempts a head kick as they settle back into striking range.
Jab for Pereira. He just comes up short on a power right hand. Calf kick lands for Pereira and knocked Prochazka off-balance for a moment.
Flush left hook for Pereira in the final second of the round drops Prochazka. He gets back up but looks a little wobbly as he goes back to his corner.
Round Two:
Nasty head kick from Pereira floors Prochazka straight away in the second round!! A few follow-up punches land on the mat as the dazed Prochazka rolls to his knees, and that’s it, Pereira with a huge TKO win at 0.13mins of the 2nd round. Prochazka staggers as he struggles to his feet afterwards, highlighting that it was the right call to end the fight.
