Former two-time light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson is set to return to action against Jan Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night 93 in Hamburg, Germany on September 3rd.

Gustafsson was last seen coming off second best in an agonisingly close split decision loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 192 in October of last year.

That was a bitter pill to swallow for the Swedish star, who had also lost another hard fought and controversial decision in his first title shot against Jon Jones back in 2013.

Afterwards, the 29 year-old seemed disillusioned and admitted that he’d lost some of his passion for fighting, but after taking some time out he’s now looking to mount a new assault on the 205lb division.

On paper this will be Gustafsson’s least high profile fight in quite some time, with Poland’s Blachowicz not featuring in the division’s top 15 rankings.

The 33 year-old Blachowicz is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Igor Pokrajac last time out however, and is 2-2 in the UFC overall.

Gustafsson Vs Blachowicz joins a UFC Fight Night 93 line-up that will be headlined by a heavyweight encounter featuring Andrei Arlovski Vs Josh Barnett, while Ryan Bader also takes on Ilir Latifi on the main card of the event.
