Alexander Hernandez Beats Jim Miller By Decision At UFC Fight Night 219

Alexander Hernandez was able to get the better of a competitive striking battle with Jim Miller tonight at UFC Fight Night 219 to win on the scorecards.

Round One:

Lots of feints from both men and then a low kick from Hernandez. He fires out the jab as Miller attempts to do likewise.

Jab lands for Hernandez. Eyepoke to Miller but he’s ok to continue almost immediately. Hernandez trying for body kick. Now a strike lands for Miller.

Low kick for Hernandez. Short flurry from Miller. He throws a kick upstairs and then surges into another flurry of strikes. Hernandez manages to survive that onslaught though.

Both fighters going to the low kick. Another low kick from Hernandez. Miller blitzes forward with piston-like straight lefts and rights, but Hernandez mostly was able to back away out of range.

Hernandez with a body kick. Now a straight left for him. Body kick on the other side from him now. Straight right lands. Front kick to the body.

Grazing hook from Miller. Another body kick from Hernandez. Right hand for Hernandez and a counter from Miller.

Good jab for Hernandez and then steps off to the side. Big head kick for Miller. Low inside kick from Hernandez. Miller with a kick that strays to the groin and forces a brief stoppage for him to recover.

Jab for Miller. He nicely checks a leg kick from Hernandez. Hernandez attempts a head kick that’s blocked. Both men heading back to their corner with a little swelling beneath one of their eyes after that competitive first round.

Round Two:

Left hook from Hernandez. Now a kick. Another kick is almost caught by Miller. Straight right for Hernandez. Knee to the body lands for Hernandez.

Miller with an inside leg kick but eats a punch on the way. Body kick and punches for Hernandez. Miller with a jab.

Hernandez able to land a couple of strikes and steer clear of a Miller counter at the same time, showing off his speed advantage.

Body kick for Hernandez. Head kick attempt from Miller. Another body kick for Hernandez. Good straight punch from Miller.

Again Hernandez lands a jab and is out of range when Miller tries to return fire. Jab for Hernandez and a knee to the body.

Body kick for Miller. Hernandez with an elbow now. Miller pressing forward aggressively and lands a few punches, but then eats an elbow.

Punch for Hernandez and a counter hook from Miller lands. Jab for Hernandez. Right hand gets through for Miler. Knee to the body from Hernandez.

Leg kick for Miller. Elbow from Hernandez. Solid body kick from him. Left hand for Miller. He tries for a head kick but slips off it.

Round Three:

Jab for Hernandez. Back to that solid body kick. Flurry from Miller. Now a counter left from him. Jab for Hernandez. Leg kick from Miller. Another from him.

Miller lands well to the body and then to the head. Another left hand to the head stuns Hernandez for a split second and then he clinches up. Miller trying to work a guillotine but it doesn’t work out and they go back to striking range.

Leg kicks for Miller. He lands another and Hernandez stumbled a little. The cut below Miller’s eye is bleeding more significantly now.

Low kicks and punches from Hernandez as he tries to reestablish his striking. He works behind the jab. Now Miller countering over the top.

Miller trying to push forward and Hernandez does nicely to punch off his back foot. Hard body kick from him. Both land a punch. One-two for Miller.

Jab from Hernandez. He tries for a kick, but Miller kicks out his other leg at the same time and he falls to the mat. Miller gets on top and works for a rear-naked choke. It’s more of a crank for now and Hernandez is hanging on in there. Miller adjusts position and goes for the finish, but Hernandez manages to scramble and get on top as the round ends.

Round One:

Good competitive fight then, but Hernandez was quicker and sharper with his offense and earns a unanimous decision (30-27 x2, 29-28).
