Alexia Thainara survived being staggered in the second round by Amanda Lemos to fight her way to a unanimous decision victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 284.
Round One
Calf kick from Lemos. Thainara lands a couple of her own. Now one on the inside of the leg. Body kicks exchanged now.
They continue to trade kicks blow for blow and then Thainara tries for a takedown, but quickly abandons it.
Jab for Lemos. Inside low kick for Thainara. Front kick to the body from Lemos. Body kick and then another front kick from her.
Thainara clinches up against the cage. Knees to the thigh from Thainara and the occasional one from Lemos too. A knee from Thainara strays to the groin though and Lemos needs a time-out.
That blow clearly took a toll as Lemos recovers for a few minutes before finally being ready to resume.
Front kick to the body from Lemos. Low kick for Thainara. Lemos presses forward with strikes, but Thainara returns fire with a combination. Good hook lands for Thainara.
Lemos clinching up against the cage. Thainara reverses the position and is back to landing repeated knees to the thigh.
A couple of knees to the body now for Thainara and then back to chipping away at the thigh for the rest of the round.
Round Two
Calf kick for Thainara. Front kick from Lemos. Lemos with a right hand. Calf kick for Thainara.
Calf kick from Lemos and then body punches. Right hook for Thainara. Low kick for Lemos. Both women fire off hooks. Left hand for Lemos.
Low kicks from Thainara. Now one from Lemos. Reaching punches from Thainara comes up short. Both ladies exchange punches. Thainara clinches against the cage. A few strikes for her from there.
Back to striking range midway through the round. Body kick from Thainara. Lemos suddenly has Thainara rocked with a straight power punch. Thainara’s legs are wobbled, but she manages to clinch up to buy her some time to clear the cobwebs.
Elbows in close from Thainara seems to cut Lemos , whose blonde hair is now streaked red. They break away. Jab for Thainara. Inside and outside low kicks from her.
Jab for Lemos and then a good counter from Thainara. Final 10 seconds of the round and Thainara lands a solid takedown.
Round Three
Back to the leg kicks for Thainara. Good left from Thainara knocks Lemos over for a moment, but she rights herself quickly.
Jab for Thainara. Now a right hand. Solid jab for Lemos and then rips to the body. Body kick from Lemos and an uppercut from Thainara.
Front kick to the body from Lemos and then a leg kick. Punch for Thainara. Thainara clinches up against the cage.
Knees to the thigh and then body from Thainara and Lemos turns to face the cage. Thainara now landing knee to the back of the thigh.
Thainara is now landing heels to the back of the calf. Lemos reverses the position and lands an elbow.
Thainara able to land in a takedown and a few blows. Lemos back up facing the cage again with Thainara chipping away with knees to the back of the legs.
Final 50 seconds and Lemos breaks free. Low kick from Thainara. Another lands to the calf. Inside leg kick.
Good left hand from Thainara as Lemos came forward aggressively. Big overhand from Lemos and then misses with another as she tries to find a finishing blow in the final seconds of the fight.
Decision
Both fighters had their moments in the fight, but despite being rocked in the second round Thainara got the better of the first and final rounds to emerge with a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x2, 30-27).
