Amanda Nunes Steps In To Fight Sarah Kaufman At The TUF Nations Finale

With Shayna Baszler out injured, Amanda Nunes has stepped in as a late replacement to fight Sarah Kaufman at the TUF Nations Finale event on April 16th.

It’s a tall order for Nunes to come in on less than two weeks notice to face the former Strikeforce 135lb champion who’s currently ranked No.5 in the division.

The 25 year-old is in good form at the moment though with two first round TKO wins under her belt in the Octagon since joining the UFC last year, and that leaves her placed at No.8 in the division.

She was also already in training for a fight with Alexis Dufresne just a few days later on April 19th at UFC On FOX 11, so, fitness wise, taking on this fight at short notice shouldn’t be a problem.

While Kaufman is the more experienced fighter, she’s only fought for the UFC once so far, initially losing a controversial split decision to Jessica Eye before the bout was amended to a no-contest at a later date after her opponent failed a post-fight drugs test.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
