Announcer Joe Martinez To Stand In For Bruce Buffer At UFC On FX 6

December 14th’s ‘UFC On FX 6’ show in Sydney, Australia is set to break from tradition as iconic Octagon announcer Bruce Buffer won’t be in attendance.

He’s not gone AWOL though, it’s just that he’ll be doing his regular UFC announcing gig at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in Las Vegas that same weekend, and so won’t be able to make it to both events.

The UFC have now enlisted former WEC announcer Joe Martinez to step into his shoes over in OZ, ensuring that the event will still be in capable hands.

Along with his previous work in MMA, Martinez will also be familiar to fight fans around the world as he’s the announcer for Oscar De La Hoya’s boxing promotion ‘Golden Boy’.

Buffer remains the UFC’s No.1 announcer though, and in fact his popularity has grown to such an extent that he’s currently getting set to launch his own mobile app later this month, and possibly a clothing line in 2013.

Ross launched MMA Insight (previously FightOfTheNight.com) in 2009 as a way to channel his passion for the sport of mixed martial arts. He's since penned countless news stories and live fight reports along with dozens of feature articles as the lead writer for the site, reaching millions of fans in the process.
