It appears that Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson’s move up to 205lbs hasn’t diminished his hard-hitting style as he’s notched up his second finish in a row at last night’s Xtreme Fight Night 9 show.
Johnson was facing another former UFC fighter Jake Rosholt at the event in Oklahoma, and 4.22mins into the second round he floored him with a head kick, resulting in a TKO stoppage.
Despite the victory over a respectable opponent ‘Rumble’ admitted afterwards that he’s still adapting to competing at 205lbs after having fought at 170lbs for so many years.
“I feel OK,” Johnson said. “I’ve still got a lot of improving to do. I’ve got to get comfortable with this 205 [pound] body, so bear with me, it will come.”
Johnson has made it clear in the past that his intention is to fight his way back into the UFC and if he can continue to put in performances like this and keep his weight under control then there’s every chance that will happen.
