Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Won At UFC 153 Despite Fighting With Fractured Rib

Battle-worn Brazilian legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has revealed in an interview that he fought Dave Herman at UFC 153 last weekend despite having picked up a significant injury just weeks prior to the fight

“I Fractured my rib three weeks ago on my right side,” Nogueira told SporTV. “I went to the doctor; I took a local anesthetic to be able to train.”

Even without that injury there had still been concern about ‘Big Nog’s’ fitness going into the fight given that he accepted it on short notice after a long period on the treatment table recovering from a fractured arm he had suffered against Frank Mir at the end of last year.

Nevertheless, the 36 year-old put his health issues to one side and was able to defeat Herman with a second round armbar submission in front of his jubilant hometown fans in Rio.
