Bellator celebrated their 100th show last night and we’ve got all the results for you.
In the main event, the final of last season’s welterweight tournament Douglas Lima emerged victorious by KO’ing Ben Saunders for the second time in his career.
The first round was fairly even, but in the second Lima dropped Saunders with an uppercut. Saunders recovered and eventually got back upright where they started to engage. Lima then landed a nice left uppercut and followed upstairs with a head kick that landed flush and knocked Saunders out.
Meanwhile, the quarter-finals of the current welterweight tourney were taking place and War Machine booked his place in the final four with a rear-naked choke win in the second round against Vaughn Anderson.
Rick Hawn will join him after a decision win against Herman Terrado, as will Ron Keslar and Brent Weedman who were both victorious in their quarter-final match-ups.
it’s also worth noting that in the prelims one of Bellator’s top prospects, former NCAA wrestling champion Bubba Jenkins suffered a shock TKO loss to LaRue Burley.
Jenkins was in control in the first round with repeated takedowns, but then appeared to by running low on gas in the second and Burley came close to stopping him before the bell sounded. Jenkins hit empty in the final round and Burley took advantage, beating him up on the ground and getting the TKO finish.
