Bellator 246 Results

Bellator 246, the second event from the promotion in the space of two days, took place last night and w’ve got all the results below.

In the main event of the evening, Juan Archuleta defeated Patrick Mix on the scorecards to win the vacant bantamweight title.

The two fighter’s strategies were clear from early in the fight, with Archuleta to keep the fight standing and focus on frequent body shots, while Mix was looking for takedown opportunities, and by the end of the first round he’d achieved full mount.

The second round was similar, but this time when Mix eventually got Archuleta down, his opponent managed to get a reversal and land ground and pound.

Archuleta stayed upright and won the striking battle in the third round and continued to punish Mix’s midsection in the rounds that followed to secure a decision victory (49-46, 48-47 x2).

In the co-main event, Neiman Gracie got the better of Jon Fitch to get back to winning ways.

It was always going to be an intriguing grappling battle and Gracie got the better of it overall, leading to a heel hook finish late in the second round.

After his loss the 42-year-old Fitch announced his retirement from the sport.

earlier, Liz Carmouche made her Bellator debut against DeAnna Bennett, who had come in 4.7lbs overweight, but that didn’t stop Carmouche from winning the first round, and though her opponent did get the better of her in the second, she was able to secure a takedown in the third round and find a rear-naked choke finish.

Opening up the main card, Keoni Diggs remarkably left it until the final second of his fight with Derek Campos to send him to sleep with a rear-naked choke submission.
