Brad ‘One Punch’ Pickett delighted the UK fans tonight at ‘UFC On Fuel TV 5’ with a first round uppercut KO over Yves Jabouin.
Pickett pushed the pace in the opening stages of the fight, with an unintentional eye poke only stopping him for a brief a moment.
However, Jabouin landed the first real meaningful blow of the contest, landing with a solid knee strike. That seemed to give Jabouin confidence and he started to fire off more kicks to the body, but Pickett was undeterred and managed to get inside at times, landing some hard shots to the body and good right hooks that backed his opponent up.
Pickett ate a spinning kick from Jabouin, shrugged it off and got back to work. The two faced off and suddenly Pickett ducked and came back up with a perfectly timed uppercut that sent Jabouin crashing to the floor.
If Jabouin wasn’t already KO’d then the punch that Pickett jumped down on him with certainly did, and the victory was his with 3.40mins of the first round gone.
‘One Punch’ certainly lived up to his nickname tonight and finally put himself firmly on the map in the UFC as one of the bantamweight’s top contenders.
