Conor McGregor appears to have landed himself in hot water after running amok at Bellator 187 in Ireland last night.
The UFC superstar was watching from cageside as last night as his teammate and occasional bodyguard Charlie Ward stopped John Redmond late in the first round.
An animated McGregor, who wasn’t one of the fighters cornermen, then took it upon himself to jump into the cage and celebrate with Ward.
Bellator officials then tried to separate the two, with referee Marc Goddard pushing McGregor away, which provoked an angry reaction from the lightweight champion, who ran over and shoved him.
McGregor then jostled with other officials as he continued to shout at Goddard, until he was finally ushered back out of the cage.
‘The Notorious’ has history with Goddard as just a few weeks ago the official ordered him to back off after he got too close to the Octagon while attempting to shout instructions to his teammate Artem Lobov at UFC Fight Night 118 in Poland.
On that occasion McGregor held his hands up by way of an apology and then returned to his seat, but this time he proved harder to control.
Last night he wasn’t finished even after being ejected from the cage as just moments later he defiantely tried to push back in via the cage door but then went back out.
Moments later he then ran over to the other side of the cage and jump up onto it in an attempt to continue his celebrations with Ward.
This time another Bellator official, Mike Johnson, attempted to stop McGregor from climbing back into the cage and the out-of-control UFC star proceeded to lash out at him, reportedly making contact with his face.
Ward then opted to vault the cage himself and embrace McGregor, before the chaotic scenes finally started to wind down and the Irishman left.
McGregor is likely now in hot water over these moments of madness, with Bellator’s ad hoc commissioner at the show, Mike Mazzuli telling the Telegraph last night that, “‘Mr. McGregor is not bigger than the sport of MMA. That’s all I’m saying right now.”
