Conor McGregor TKO’s Dustin Poirier In Under Two Minutes At UFC 178

Conor McGregor was true to his word – he finished Dustin Poirier in the first round of UFC 178 tonight to potentially set up a future featherweight title shot.

Round One:

McGregor with a hook kick to the head that just misses. McGregor with another fancy kick but losing his footing.

Poirier with a couple of leg kicks as he moves around the outside. mcGergor bails out of a spinning attempt. He then lands lightly with a spinning kick to the body.

Punch from Poirier and Mcregor shakes his head. Leg kick for Poirier. McGregor with a nice left hand. They both land in a tense exchange.

Another big left from McGregor that Poirier definitely felt and he looks a little more tentative now.

Suddenly McGregor steps forward with a couple of feel-out jabs and then a hook just as Poirier ducks and it just grazes him behind the ear and drops him hard.

McGregor lands some hard punches to his grounded opponent’s head, with one straying to the back of his head, and that’s it – the Irish phenomenon has done it again, claiming a TKO victory over Poirier in just 106 seconds!

Impressive stuff from McGregor. Poirier is one of the best in the 145lb weight class and judging by Dana White’s comments in the lead-up to this fight ‘The Notorious’ one may well have just booked himself a title shot against the winner of Jose Aldo Vs Chad Mendes.
