Conor McGregor’s earnings for the past 12 months have been revealed in a new Forbes list of the Top 100 highest Paid Athletes.
This year McGregor made it to No.24 on the list, with Forbes estimating his earnings at a whopping $34 million over the past year, up from No.85 with $22 million a year earlier.
That includes $27 million for his two blockbuster fights during that period against Nate Diaz at UFC 202, which set a new PPV record for the company, and against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, another pay-per-view that broke well beyond the 1 million sales barrier.
In addition, McGregor banked a further $7 million in endorsements, such as lucrative deals with Reebok and Beats By Dre.
McGregor rubs shoulders with Real Madrid soccer star Gareth Bale (No.23) and the fastest man in the world, sprinter Usain Bolt (no.22), who earned just over $34 million over the same period of time.
However, as impressive as McGregor’s earnings are, they still pale in comparison to the current leader of the pack, Real madrid soccer megastar Cristiane Ronaldo, who earned a staggering $93 million in total, and trousered more than ‘The Notorious’ in endorsements alone ($35 million).
McGregor is currently attempting to line-up of a moneyspinning boxing mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr, which if it goes through would almost certainly propel him and his opponent towards the top of the list next year.
