Corey Anderson Earns Decision Victory Over Glover Teixeira At UFC Fight Night 134

Corey Anderson was able to outstrike Glover Teixeira at range and outgrapple him tonight at UFC fight Night 134 to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Round One

Body punch from Anderson. Left hook for Teixeira and then threatens with an uppercut as Anderson thinks about a takedwon.

Anderson drives in on another takedown, pressing Teixiera to the cage. Teixiera doing a good job of stuffing that attempt and then backs away.

Body kick for Anderson. Now a front kick to the body. Anderson goes in for another takedown attempt and again Teixeira shows good defense to stay upright and get back to striking range.

Short uppercut from Teixiera as Anderson looks to clinch. Now Anderson comes in again, but Teixeira is the one who takes the lead in teh clinch and presses him to the cage.

Not for long though as Anderson gets away and then throws punches to set up another takedown and finally get Teixeira to the mat.

Teixeira up quickly though. Anderson has his back though and uses that to pull him to the mat again. Teixiera stands again with Anderson still locked on. He hoists Teixeira off his feet, but he keeps his balance. Anderson drives again though and lands a good takedown against the cage.

Teixiera stands yet again. Good uppercut from Anderson. Now an overhand right lands. Punch from Teixeira misses and Anderson goes for the takedown, but this time Teixeira wraps up a guillotine choke and rolls to the mat with it. It looks tight, but there’s not long remaining in the round and Anderson gives a thumbs up as he rides out in the remaining seconds of the round.

Round Two:

Teixiera comes forward aggressively with early punches to back Anderson up. One-two for Anderson. Anderson lands a takedown, but Teixeira instantly pops up and drives him into the cage looking for a takedown of his own. He can’t get it though.

Back to striking range in the center of the Octagon. Head kick attempt from Anderson doesn’t work out. Teixeira tries for a takedown, but it’s easily stuffed.

They stand again. Overhand attempt from Teixiera. Right a left and an uppercut from Teixiera, but Anderson also lands and as he backs away Teixiera wobbles momentarily.

Anderson drives back in and gets him to the mat. He gets into full mount. Teixeira rolls to his knees. Anderson lands right hands to the head.

However, Teixeira is able to stand and shake off his opponent and then quickly drives forward to clinch up with him against the cage. Anderson gets out though.

Punch lands for Anderson. Teixeira chipping away with punches tooo and then Anderson is back in on another takedown against against the cage and lands it.

High half guard for Anderson as he looks to land a few strikes. Elbows drop and some punches too in the final seconds of the round.

Round Three:

Anderson putting together straight punches as Teixeira backs up the cage. Back to striking range. Teixeira looks for punches and Anderson works him back into the clinch against the cage. Teixeira thinking about a guillotine choke, but he can’t get it.

Anderson switches to the back and brings Teixeira down. Teixiera on his knees with Anderson on his back. Teixiera stands though as he’s been doing all fight long, but he’s just not been able to get anything meaningful going offensively so far in the fight.

Center of the Octagon and a switch knee from Anderson to the body and then he has Teixeira down again on his knees. Teixeira rolls to his back.

Teixeira stands and shakes off another single leg attempt. However Anderson gets him to the cage yet again and grounds him again.

Half-guard for Anderson. Teixeira scrambling and gives up his back. Final minute of the fight and Teixeira stands. Anderson still pressing him to the cage, but he gets free.

Nice uppercut for Teixeira inside. Anderson muscles him to the cage. Spinning backfist attempt from Anderson and then straight back into the takedown, landing it, but Teixiera reverses it in the final seconds of the fight to end on top.

Decision:

Anderson clearly had the better of Teixeira at striking range, in the clinch and on the mat here en-route to a unanimous decision victory (30-27 x3).
