Cris Cyborg Doesn’t Believe Ronda Rousey Fight Will Happen

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino has been campaigning for years for the chance to fight Ronda Rousey, but despite the fact both women are now competing in the UFC, she doesn’t believe it will happen.

Even UFC President Dana White’s recent statement that Rousey, “absolutely, positively wants to fight ‘Cyborg”, it seems that the 31 year-old Invicta FC champion has been snubbed too many times to get her hopes up that this time it will become a reality.

“Everyone wants the biggest women’s fight in the Octagon, ever, to happen but Dana cannot do this because, not because he doesn’t want, but probably because he cannot force Ronda Rousey to fight,” ‘Cyborg’ told mixedmartialarts.com. “The same way he cannot force McGregor to fight Jose Aldo, again. He cannot force Ronda to fight Holly Holm, again. I don’t believe it, anymore.

“I don’t think he can force Ronda Rousey to fight. I don’t think the fight can happen. I already did five fights under contract with the UFC, and I did two fights at 140 to open the door for this, for the opportunity for [this fight with Rousey] to happen. But, it won’t happen. I don’t believe it, anymore. You want the guy who never wanted women to fight in the cage to promote the biggest event, ever, between two women?”

Before the possibility of the superfight can really come into focus again Rousey will have to emerge victorious in her recently scheduled woman’s bantamweight title fight with current champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30th.

If that does happen there’s no doubt that Rousey Vs Cyborg is going to be the fight that everyone wants to see, but there will be other fights on the table for the champion at that stage, such as a possible rematch with Holly Holm, a trilogy fight with Miesha Tate or a new challenge against outspoken contender Julianna Pena.

What that in mind you can’t help but feel that ‘Cyborg’ is right not to temper her expectations of finally landing that dream match-up.
