UFC featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino now appears to be on-board with the idea of a superfight with bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes, with UFC 226 in Las Vegas this coming July being the most likely destination for the showdown.
“I have agreed to fight Amanda Nunes on July 7 in Las Vegas as part of UFC 226 and International Fight Week,” Cyborg wrote on Facebook.
“I am now waiting for my manager to work with the UFC on a bout agreement so we can make Cyborg vs. Nunes ‘The Super Fight’ official. #CyborgNation, us versus them!”
‘Cyborg’ had initially appeared resistant to the idea of fighting her fellow Brazilian after Nunes indicated that she was interested in the match-up following Justino’s win over Amanda Nunes at UFC 219 on December 30th.
At the time, the 32-year-old insisted that she would rather face genuine 145lb contenders rather than another fighter stepping up from 135lbs, but it hasn’t taken her too long to warm up to the idea.
However, reaching financial terms has already been a stumbling block in the past when it comes to ‘Cyborg’, so it remains to be seen if a deal with the UFC can be reached to ensure that one of the biggest WMMA fights of all-time does actually happen this summer.
