Cris Cyborg To Defend Invicta FC Title Live On UFC Fight Pass

Cris Cyborg

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino may not be signed to the UFC, but she will be fighting on the UFC Fight Pass subscription service at some stage in the next few months thanks to Invicta FC’s new broadcast deal.

Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp has confirmed that ‘Cyborg’ will defend her featherweight title against Ediane Gomes on their next event which is tenatively scheduled for late summer and will air live on Fight Pass.

‘Cyborg’ has fought twice for the Invicta FC promotion since the failed drug test that saw her stripped of her strikeforce title back in 2011 and it should be noted that she was tested for drugs on both occasions and came back ‘clean’.

Her debut saw her TKO Fiona Muxlow in the first round, leading to a title fight with another former Strikeforce champ Marloes Coenen who she also defeated by TKO, this time in the fourth round to become the Invicta FC 145lb title holder.

Gomes also hails from Brazil, and like ‘Cyborg’ she is an imposing fighter with a 10-2 record who’s recorded seven victories via submission.

She’s currently on a four fight winning streak and has won twice inside the Invicta FC, and her last loss came back in 2011 when she became the first ever victim of a Ronda Rousey armbar in the UFC stars pro MMA debut.
